Carl Grimes, CBI, Chairman of the Board
Before Carl Grimes founded CBI+ Team over 15 years ago, he published an award-winning newspaper, built and operated a state-of-the-art cable television system, real estate firm, retail catalog sales business and an abstract and title company. All of these businesses were successfully sold to strategic and institutional investors and led Carl to the field of business brokerage with a specialization in mid-market mergers and acquisitions. Carl also received the designation of Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) from the International Business Brokers Association and owns CBI+ Team offices in Northwest Arkansas, Ft. Smith and Little Rock, Arkansas, Joplin, Missouri and Springfield, Missouri.
As a licensed real estate broker in both Arkansas and Missouri, Carl is also the president of the Professional Association of Arkansas Business Brokers. Carl has been involved in the sale of over 600 businesses in his career as a professional business broker. His areas of specialty in business sales include print businesses, motorsports industries, title companies, cable television companies, renewable energy, retail stores, manufacturing and mining/quarries.
Born and raised in Clarendon, Arkansas, Carl is proud of being a native “Arkansawyer”. In 1971, Carl married his high school sweetheart, Kathy. In 1984, he started his first business in Northwest Arkansas. Carl and Kathy have two grown sons, Casey and Connor. Both Casey and Connor are active in the family-owned company as full time intermediaries.
A graduate of the inaugural class of Leadership Fayetteville, a program conducted by the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce, Carl has served as a city councilman, school board member, Chamber of Commerce president and is a Fellow of the International Business Brokers Association. A member of New Heights Church in Fayetteville, Carl has also served as an elder, a deacon, and a Sunday school teacher.
Connor Grimes, Managing Partner
Connor Grimes is the managing partner in the CBI office of Central Arkansas. Grimes has a life-time of experience as a business intermediary, helping bring privately-held business Sellers and Buyers together.
Grimes started his business brokerage career in the CBI+Team office in Springfield, Missouri, before moving on to work in the Northwest Arkansas office in Lowell. Grimes went on to work with CBI+Team offices in Kansas City and Charleston, South Carolina. In Charleston, Grimes was the managing intermediary where his responsibilities included recruiting and training new intermediaries as well as running the day-to-day operations of the office. Recently, Grimes was the Executive Broker in The CBI+Team office in Fort Smith, hiring, training and mentoring new intermediaries, ultimately growing that office. Having developed a strong reputation for his knowledge and experience in business brokerage, Grimes spent time traveling the country training other The CBI+Team office owners and intermediaries the method that CBI uses to bring business Sellers and Buyers together.
Grimes has experience in assisting business owners obtain independent, third party valuations of their businesses in order to set a market-driven purchase price for the business, providing the seller with a realistic opportunity to sell the business for the most money possible in the least amount of time. Grimes has also worked extensively with business buyers, training them in the CBI System, a tried and true method of finding the right business at the right price and on the right terms. Grimes has also worked closely with the Franchise Sales and Re-Sales division of The CBI+Team. Grimes states that, “Franchises mean you are in business for yourself but not by yourself. Franchises are perfect for corporate people who have decided that they want to work for themselves but need some reassurance in being the one calling the shots. “That is why franchises are a match for these people, they have management teams in place and a method that has proven itself to work.
Grimes is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys hunting, fishing, floating and hiking. He is also a fan of college athletics, mainly college football. Grimes was the Arkansas 100 meter state champion before going on to become an All-American sprinter during his college athletic career. He is active in his church and spends time volunteering throughout the community.
Grimes has experience in helping Central Arkansas business Sellers and Buyers as well, having brokered the sale of businesses such as Willy D’s Piano Bar, Sport Clips and others.
Mark Kincannon, Managing Parnter
Mark Kincannon is the owner/managing partner of the CBI+Team’s Fort Smith-River Valley office. He was born in Fort Smith, but spent most of his school age years in Little Rock. He graduated from J.A. Fair High School in 1994 where he played basketball and baseball. He went on to play baseball in college where he was an Academic All-American his sophomore year and served his senior year as captain for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He graduated from UALR with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. After finishing his undergraduate degree he later completed a Masters of Arts in Theological Studies from Southern Seminary in Louisville Kentucky.
Kincannon married his high school sweetheart Michelle in 2000. She graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she was also a cheerleader for the Razorbacks. She currently oversees finances and human resources as Administrator for Community Bible Church. They have three children Mason, Maddax, and Mackenzie who all attend Woods Elementary School in Fort Smith.
Kincannon has spent most of his adult life coaching baseball at various levels. His first coaching job came as he was working on his graduate degree in Louisville. He was an assistant coach at The Christian Academy of Louisville. Coaching is what brought Kincannon back to Fort Smith, as he became the head baseball coach at Fort Smith Christian School. During his three years coaching and teaching at Fort Smith Christian he became the schools Athletic Director. Kincannon went on to win a state championship as a head coach in Fort Smith’s American Legion baseball program where he coached for six years. He spent two years as an assistant coach at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. He currently is a volunteer assistant coach at Greenwood High School.
Following his time at Fort Smith Christian, Kincannon accepted the position of Groups Pastor at Community Bible Church in Fort Smith. During his nine years as a pastor at Community Bible Church he served in various capacities. He was point leader as the church launched their Van Buren and Greenwood Campuses. He also served as the church’s Executive Pastor. He continues to serve at Community as a volunteer.
Kincannon felt led to move out of vocational church ministry and into the business world where helped develop the Fort Smith and River Valley territory for an automotive fluid manufacturing and distribution company.
The buying or selling of a business can be one of the biggest moments of a person’s life. The leadership, trustworthiness, and communication skills that Kincannon brings to the CBI+Team assist the team as he helps clients navigate some of the most stressful experiences of their career.
Casey Grimes, Senior Intermediary
Casey Grimes is a Senior Intermediary for The CBI+Team with a multitude of experience in sales and business management. He managed and was chief operating officer for two years of The CBI+Team headquarters in Northwest Arkansas as well as the locations in Springfield and Joplin, Missouri. Coordinating training, meetings and recruiting for intermediaries during this time gave Casey much experience in business brokerage. He is a member of the International Business Brokers Association and has also developed a niche in helping dentists and orthodontists sell and buy practices. Casey has sold many businesses and practices giving him the required experience and success to be a Senior Intermediary with The CBI-Team.
Casey has been a small business owner and has worked extensively with restaurants in management and sales as well as managing clients for an Australian company working closely with spas and salons. This vast experience brings to the table a healthy understanding of how small business works as well as the great ability to comfortably deal with and understand people in a business setting. He is dedicated and aggressive in helping people sell their businesses in the quickest amount of time and connecting business sellers with the right buyers.
Casey is a native of Northwest Arkansas where he attended the University of Arkansas. He lives with his wife in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He is an avid reader, musician and has traveled the world. He is also an active member of Grace Church in Fayetteville and helps build schools in Indonesia.
Hugh Hyde, CPA, President Emeritus
Hugh serves as President of CBI+ Advisory Partners after 29 years with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. (KPMG) specializing in M&A strategies and execution on behalf of the firm’s domestic and multinational clients. Upon retirement, Hugh became a bank president for two years until the bank was sold and he then spent 14 years as a partner in an a southwest regional investment banking firm. During his accounting career, Hugh served clients in the Little Rock office in a variety of industries, including some private witness work for law firms, initial audits for companies with IPO filings, drafting audit methodologies for Medicaid purposes and developed a bank practice. After his transfer to the Houston office, he became partner in charge of the Southwest region bank practice.
Hugh also served seven years as Partner on a publicly held bank holding company during a period that it acquired fifty banks for consolidation.
As a result of the financial troubles suffered by southwest region banks, Hugh developed skills in the area of business consulting for restructuring troubled financial institutions. Hugh’s work with troubled companies and consolidation in the financial industry enabled him to become involved with numerous merger and acquisition assignments and to participate in developing the concept of special purpose entities (“spin-out banks”) for dealing in distressed assets. He worked very closely in Washington with the office of the Comptroller of Currency and with the FDIC in designing these entities. He was also a Partner on a major FDIC engagement.
In November, 1995, Hugh joined with two partners in the formation of Gulf Capital Partners, Inc. “GulfCap,” a Houston based investment banking company that specializes in financial and strategic advisory services for middle market companies, both public and private.
In 2009, Hugh and Mrs. Hyde moved their residence to their second home on Lake Norfork in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Hugh has since decided that full retirement is not appropriate for him. In April, 2013 they sold the lake house and moved to Fayetteville for him to be active in Northwest Arkansas. Hugh continues to provide CBI+ Advisory Partners’ clients with his extensive experience with activities in strategic mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance.
Jon Holbert, Senior Intermediary
Jon Holbert is a Senior Intermediary for The CBI+Team office in Springdale, Arkansas. He has been involved in the automotive industry most of his life, selling his first car at his father’s dealership at age 12. Jon has held every position in an automobile dealership including becoming a Ford dealer principal at the age of 28. Jon has over 25 years of business experience as the General Manager of Saturn Dealerships and as the Vice President for Auto Master. Jon holds the designation of Certified Master Dealer from National Independent Automobile Dealers Association.
After participating in the sale of Auto Master to a publicly held company in 2006 and subsequent sale of Auto Master to a Private company in 2008 and after opening and selling a successful pawn shop, Jon developed an interest in the business brokerage field. Jon is a licensed Real Estate Salesperson in the state of Arkansas. His objective is to provide his clients with sound business advice and first class service while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Jon was born in Plainview Texas and moved to NW Arkansas in 1991; He has three adult children and one granddaughter. He resides with his wife DeLee on the White River below Beaver Dam. His hobbies include fly fishing, shooting sporting clays and gunsmithing. Jon and DeLee attend Faith Christian Family Church in Eureka Springs. Jon is a member of the International Business Brokers Association.
Roy Still, Senior Intermediary
Roy is a Senior Intermediary for The CBI+Team office in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has the distinction of a 100% success rate selling businesses he listed.

Roy is a graduate of Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He started forming an interest in small business while learning the basics in his father’s grocery store. After graduating, his career started in retail as an Operations Manager where he was responsible for multiple acquisitions and new unit startups. He ultimately managed the operations of a substantial number of locations throughout the southern states. He also worked as Vice President of Sales for a publically traded automotive chain operating in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas and Missouri.
Through the years Roy has successfully owned and operated several businesses including; a wholesale store fixture distribution company, a chain of check advance and loan offices, an import/export company, a large antique store, a workers compensation fraud loss-mitigation company, home decor store, laundry, a towing & recovery service, online sporting goods company and an insurance agency.
With his experience, Roy has gained an understanding of the challenges entrepreneurs face when it comes to selling or buying a business. His objective is to provide the utmost professionalism, competent service and confidentiality beyond reproach.
Roy resides in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with his wife Tina. They are members of the Arts and Humanities Council of Tulsa, Youth Services of Tulsa, German-American Society of Tulsa and the Oklahoma City Chapter of FBI Infraguard. Roy and Tina attend Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Christian Church.
Shep Campbell, Senior Intermediary
Shep Campbell joined the CBI+Central Arkansas Team coming from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana where he served as an Assistant Football Coach. Born in Dallas, TX, Campbell has spent much of his life in the world of athletics. His father, Louis Campbell, was a longtime Assistant Football Coach for the Razorbacks, and is currently the Head Football Coach at Sheridan High School in Sheridan, AR. Campbell’s brother, Steadman, is an Assistant Coach at the University of North Alabama.
Campbell graduated from Fayetteville High School and started his college career playing football at the University of Central Arkansas. An injury cut his career short and Campbell ended up graduating with a degree in English from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Upon graduating college, Campbell started his coaching career as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Baylor University. Over the last twelve years Campbell has made stops at the University of Tennessee, East Carolina University, University of Arkansas-Monticello, Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia and Northwestern State, among a host of others. He has had the privilege of working for some of the best coaches in the country, such as Phillip Fulmer, John Chavis, John Thompson and Art Kaufman.
Campbell also spent two years working in the Arkansas Public Schools. He taught 8th and 9th Grade English, as well as coaching Football and Track, at Greene County Tech in Paragould, Arkansas. He also spent a year teaching 9th Grade English and Coaching at Sheridan Freshman Academy in Sheridan, Arkansas. He is also certified to Teach English as a Foreign Language.
Campbell has deep roots in Arkansas as well. Both of his parents were born in Hamburg, AR. His grandfather, Nap B. Murphy, served over 40 years in the Arkansas House of Representatives. His father, Louis, played football for Arkansas under Frank Broyles. His brother played for the Hogs under Houston Nutt. Campbell’s sister, Caroline, is a 1st Grade Teacher in Fayetteville. His mother, Ila, is also a History Teacher at Sheridan High School. Campbell’s contacts and friends stretch across the state of Arkansas and beyond.
Campbell looks to bring his skills and abilities learned in athletics and education to the business brokerage world.
